What’s up! I'm Ethan Lartey, also known as Okwami. I'm an Illustrator and comic artist born and raised in Maryland. I’m currently based in Baltimore, studying at the Maryland Institute College of Art; creating vibrant, dynamic art that bridges cultures and perspectives.

Coming from a West African Background- with both of my parents being from Ghana, and also reading a lot of comics/manga and watching anime growing up, my work explores the rich intersections of Black/African culture and Japanese anime/manga, blending the two into unique characters and stories that feel both fresh and familiar.

Through my art, I pull from my life experiences to tell stories that resonate and inspire people who see themselves in my work. Whether it’s an Illustration, character design, a comic, or something entirely new, my goal is to create pieces that hit different.
